Student checklist

Our student checklist covers all enrollment and eligibility requirements as well as potential financing options for prospective students pursuing our program. If you haven’t already, we recommend joining us for a discovery flight where you will experience first-hand what our pilots experience every day.

ENROLLMENT

• Apply to Lake Superior College and submit all required materials listed on the website or paper application.

• When you receive your acceptance letter, you will be invited to a SOAR session (Student Orientation/ACCUPLACER/Registration). At this session, we will cover policy information, registration information, administer placement testing, and register you for classes.

• Register for Classes

  • March 23rd, 2023 — Registration opens for Disability Services, TRIO Student Support Services, and Veterans

  • April 6th, 2023 — Registration opens for new degree-seeking, admitted students

ELIGIBILITY

• Obtain 2nd Class Medical Certification (See FAA MedXPress Programs for Pilots)

• Receive your Student Pilot Certificate. After obtaining your medical certification, contact us to schedule an appointment with one of our instructors to complete the application process. Remote and in-person appointments are available.

FINANCING

• Go to www.fafsa.gov and complete the FAFSA Application.

• Apply for scholarships exclusive to students in our program.

• Apply for financial aid through Lake Superior College.

• Private student alternative loans may be needed to cover flight costs.

• VA Students: Contact 1-800-GIBILL1 to get started.
