The New Avionics are INSTALLED!

New Avionics

Our new avionics are INSTALLED and are AWESOME! These new avionics will bring our training to the next level of technology and safety. While training with us at Lake Superior Helicopters you will be able to monitor other traffic on the screen of our Garmin 430W due to the Mode S capabilities of our Garmin GTX330 Transponder. Along with the visual reference, you will also receive a voice warning of area traffic heard through our crystal clear Garmin 340H audio panel. I believe the first words out of our mouths when we turned it all on will be the same as yours..."WOW!".

These systems are as good as they get for training helicopters not to mention for any aircraft. With these new avionics we will be able to prepare the next generation of helicopter pilots for the challenges awaiting them. Stay tuned for more!

New Avionics In N203SL

300c in the Shop

We are updating our avionics! N203SL, our Schweizer 300C is being “pimped-out” with a Garmin 430W slaved to our Horizontal Situation Indicator or HSI, Garmin GTX 330 Mode S Transponder, and a Garmin GMA 340 audio panel. This equipment will turn a good instrument training helicopter into an exceptional one with unparalleled equipment. Come on over and check it out…but be forewarned you will probably not be able to help yourself and end up flying it.

Exciting Partnership

We have been hinting for a while that we had some exciting news coming up and it is now here! Lake Superior Helicopters has been awarded the contract for providing helicopter flight training for Lake Superior College’s Center For Advanced Aviation. This partnership will better enable us to provide the best possible services to our students. Our new affiliation will give our students access to degrees and funding for their flight training through Lake Superior College’s Center for Advanced Aviation.

Thanks for Stopping By

Hello again everyone!

We would like to start out by thanking all of you who stopped by the Miller Hill Mall and visited us at our kiosk. All of us here at Lake Superior Helicopters had a wonderful time speaking with every one of you, sharing our love of aviation and swapping stories.

When we brought up the idea of having a kiosk at the mall, some thought it would be torture to coup up a bunch of heli pilots in a mall at a kiosk but they failed realize if a heli pilot can’t be flying, the next best thing is talking about flying! With that being said, we would like to apologize to any of you who became “stuck” in conversation with one of our pilots. Just remember, it is not their fault; flying is a disease for which there is no cure.
